Global Learning Courses

IDH 3034: Diplomacy Lab

In this class, I conducted research for the US Department of State. Specifically focusing on dis/misinformation efforts around Latin American and Sub-Saharan African elections. As a global problem, I was able to gain a global perspective on solving this issue.

Capstone

Among the list of capstone experiences, the one that most perfectly captured the essence of the global learning program for me was my virtual study abroad. In IDS 3336: Artistic Expressions in a Global Society, I was able to study abroad even through the hardships of a global pandemic. Additionally as part of this program, I applied to the State Department's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and ended up winning the Gilman-McCain Scholarship. This was a program that gave me the opportunity to do this virtual study abroad and in a world without a pandemic one that would have let me study abroad. In this class every week was a different exploration of forms of art around the world from traveling through 3D museums in Spain to experiencing real life Buddhist temples as part of a real life component. As part of my global learning experiences, I have urged and offer to help others study abroad whether virtually or in person because there's always so many opportunities to become a global citizen especially like the global learning medallion.
